This project will determine the impacts of Hurricane Helene on spruce-fir moss spiders, a federally endangered species that lives only at high elevations in the southern Appalachian Mountains. Aerial data and field surveys will be used to help locate spruce-fir moss spiders and their habitat, mossy rock outcrops in spruce-fir forests. This project will identify locations requiring habitat restoration and other management actions that can help recover threatened populations.
