Last week, the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) hosted their 67th Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, where several Clemson IE students and faculty were recognized for their contributions to the field.
The Clemson IE student chapter received the Gold HFES Chapter Recognition Award, the highest level of recognition awarded to student chapters. The gold-level award requires activity in at least eight categories with excellence in at least five categories such as recruitment, volunteering and mentorship.
Clemson IE PhD Students Alec Gonzales and Sarvesh Sawant were awarded as HFES Student Members with Honors. The award acknowledges students who have made outstanding contributions to the discipline or to HFES as students.
Two adjunct professors in Clemson IE, Dr. Chris Reid and Dr. Rammohan Maikala, were elected HFES Fellows, with Dr. Reid also being honored with the prestigious Arnold M. Small and Betty M. Sanders President’s Distinguished Service Award.
Clemson IE Professor, Divya Srinivasan, was recognized as the 2023 HFE Woman “Woman of the Year”.
Dr. Zeinhab Kazemi, a postdoctoral scholar working with Dr. Divya Srinivasan was awarded the 2023 Occupational Ergonomics Technical Group’s Best Computational Paper for her work titled “Differences in kinematics and resulting lumbar spinal forces during repetitive lifting tasks: simulation versus estimation of the effects of wearing a back-support exoskeleton”. Co-authors on this paper included Dr. Jang-Ho Park and Dr. Divya Srinivasan.
Dr. Satyajit Upasani, a former PhD student of Dr. Divya Srinivasan received the 2023 Augmented Cognition Technical Group Student Paper paper award for his paper titled “Gaze Behavior and Mental Workload While Using a Whole-Body Powered Exoskeleton: A Pilot Study”. Dr. Divya Srinivasan is a co-author of this paper.
