The Department of Industrial Engineering is proud to announce the addition of Dr. Tuğçe Işık and Dr. Jon Lowe to their faculty team for the 2015-2016 academic year. The addition of these two new faculty members will bring additional expertise and teaching capacity to service the growing demands of the department. The faculty appointments are as follows:
Dr. Tuğçe Işık, a product of the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), will serve Clemson IE as a research assistant professor. Prior to attending Georgia Tech, Işık earned her B.S. degree from Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, Turkey. Her research interests include: operations planning and control, stochastic processes and optimization, queueing networks, Markov decision processes with applications to agile production and service systems, and workforce flexibility and collaboration. At Georgia Tech Işık was awarded the 2015 ISyE Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award. This fall she will be teaching IE 4820 – Systems Modeling.
Dr. Jon Lowe, the most recent addition the Department of Industrial Engineering’s faculty, has been appointed as a lecturer. Lowe recently completed his Ph.D. studies at Clemson this past summer, and prior to that he worked in industry and as a member of the faculty at Macon State College in Georgia where he taught statistics and production and operations management courses. Lowe’s educational background includes a B.S. degree from Georgia Institute of Technology and a M.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Florida.
A specialist in supply chain and logistics, Lowe’s research interests include supply chain management and the application of industrial engineering techniques to real-world problems. While at Clemson, Lowe has taught IE 3860 – Production Planning & Control and IE 3840 – Engineering Economic Analysis. This fall he will be teaching IE 2800 – Deterministic Operations Research and IE 4650 – Facilities Planning and Design.
