China photography contest deadline approaches

Clemson faculty, staff, and students are invited to submit up to three images to the 7th annual c u in China photography contest, sponsored by the Clemson University Center for China Studies. All entries must be original photographs taken in China between September 2013 and August 2014. Image submissions should be in digital format, submitted either via email to xhu@clemson.edu or on a CD/DVD via campus mail to the Clemson University Center for China Studies, 232 Brackett Hall. In addition, each image must have a title or caption that includes the city or region where it was photographed, along with contestant information (major and year for students, department/unit for faculty and staff.) The submission deadline is 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2014.

Upon submission, the contestant gives the Center the permission to use the image(s) for publicity purposes. Selected images will be displayed on the Center for China Studies’ website, publicized in its newsletter, and shown in other appropriate venues.

The jury, consisting of selected Clemson University faculty, staff, students, and community members, will choose the winning photographs primarily on their artistic originality, technical quality, and, most important, their effectiveness in  capturing the unique aspects of China in transition. The first place winner will receive a yet-to-be-determined special prize, and two second place winners will each receive $50. In addition, three contestants will receive honorable mention certificates.
