Employees encouraged to donate to the leave pool before Dec. 31

This is a reminder that all sick or annual leave donations to the State Employee Leave Transfer Program must be made before Dec. 31, 2014.

Eligibility criteria for donating leave:

  • Annual Leave – Employees may voluntarily donate up to one-half of the annual leave they are eligible to earn in a calendar year. They may use no more than 30 days and carry over no more than 45 days of annual leave in a calendar year. Any leave above the maximum will be automatically forfeited on Jan. 1, 2015.  Employees who have more than 45 days and do not anticipate using the excess before Dec. 31, 2014 are especially encouraged to participate.
  • Sick Leave – Employees may donate up to one-half of the sick leave they are eligible to earn in a calendar year; however, they must retain at least 15 days of sick leave in their personal accounts. They may carry forward up to 180 days of sick leave. Any leave above the maximum will be automatically forfeited on Jan. 1, 2015.

Once sick and/or annual leave has been donated to the pool account, it cannot be restored or returned to the leave donor.

Consider contributing excess sick and/or annual leave to the leave pool for the benefit of those who encounter extraordinary personal situations after using all their own leave and who meet the State’s guidelines for drawing from the leave pool.

The Leave Pool Donation Authorization process is automated to allow for easy donation. Click here to access the leave donation Web page.
