Inside Clemson

Male faculty sought for Tiger Advocate training

Tiger Advocates is seeking male faculty who want to join in the effort to make Clemson a more welcoming, inclusive, and supportive workplace for everyone.

Walk the talk

Clemson is working to combat gender bias through a number of programs. Part of the NSF-funded ADVANCE initiative, the Tiger Advocates program trains faculty to support equality in departments, colleges and throughout the university. Through the Tiger Advocates workshop, participants gain insights on the gender equity climate at Clemson. Attendees participate in a series of guided discussions to help them detect bias in themselves and around them.

Through these discussions, attendees will work to develop solutions to problems presented, so that they are better equipped to do their part to reduce gender bias. Advocates should be active and effective proponents of gender diversity and equality specifically in terms of increasing the number of women and underrepresented faculty, encouraging the hiring for and promotion of women and underrepresented faculty into administrative positions, and ensuring the fair and equitable treatment of all faculty within their academic units.

The Tiger Advocates training will be held from 10 a.m. until noon April 20, 2018 in Lehotsky 285. Refreshments will be served.

Organizers encourage faculty to spread the word about this training and register here.
