Securely shred old documents during Shred Day Jan. 28

Clemson’s Office of Information Security and Privacy will sponsor its 6th annual Shred Day 2016 from 9 – 11 a.m.  Thursday, Jan. 28 at the Administrative Services Building (ASB), just off of Perimeter Road.  The event will take place behind the ASB in the employee parking lot. This allows participants to drive right up to have their materials shredded.  Chapin-based certified document destruction company Shred360 will be on hand to shred paper or computer-based storage media.

Those who want to rid themselves of university- or personally-owned hard drives can do so any time of the year at the University Surplus on Perimeter Road. The facility offers a Department of Defense-approved hard drive crusher on site to physically destroy the hard drive.

Shredding materials containing personal information can help to combat the ever-growing problem of identity theft. Items you may want to consider shredding include:

·        Personal documents
·        Transcripts
·        Receipts
·        Hard drives (these will be crushed onsite inside of Surplus)

This free event is being held in accordance with Data Privacy Awareness Month.
