Elizabeth S. (Liz) Halpin, retiree – July 3, 2021

Elizabeth S. (Liz) Halpin, 88, of Clemson died July 3, 2021. She worked in the Department of Food Science at Clemson for 42 years. She was hired in 1972, retired in 2006 and continued to work until 2020.

Halpin grew up in Iowa and graduated with a degree in Experimental Foods from Iowa State University.

She and her husband, the late James E. Halpin, moved to Mexico and later to South America while he worked for the Rockefeller Foundation. They came to Clemson following the birth of twin daughters.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Margaret (Jonathan) Dohnalek, Barbara (Steve) Ingham and James E. (Jay) Halpin Jr. (Ellie) and three grandchildren.

The family requests privacy at this time as plans are made for a Celebration of Life on August 7. There will be a church service at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Pendleton at 10 a.m. followed by a reception at 11:30 a.m at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Clemson.
