Frank Cholewinski, Professor Emeritus of Mathematical Sciences – Dec. 21, 2019

Frank Cholewinski, 85, of Seneca, Professor Emeritus of Mathematical Sciences, died Dec. 21, 2019. Cholewinski retired from Clemson after 33 years of teaching advanced mathematics.

He was married for 62 years to Myrtle Alice Roberts. He is survived by children Christine Murphy (Tim), Helen Gomez (Raul), Sarah Cholewinski (Keith McCorkle) and Frank Cholewinski. He has 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Cholewinski served as a marine in the Korean War. He received a Bachelor of Science in engineering physics and Master of Science in applied mathematics from Auburn University and completed his doctoral degree in analysis at Washington University in 1964.

After retirement, he continued his research in math and published some of his work, including a book on “Contemporary Mathematics: The Finite Calculus Associated with Bessel Functions.” He enjoyed writing and analysis of math theorems, nutritional health, farming and especially taking care of his many dogs and animals.
