Inside Clemson

Luther Perdee Anderson, former dean – July 1, 2018

Luther Perdee Anderson, 92, of Alpharetta, Georgia died July 1, 2018.

A World War II veteran, Anderson worked for Clemson for 36 years, starting his career in the Extension Service in Horry County, later serving as a department head and ultimately, the dean of Agriculture for 14 years until his retirement in 1986.

“In my travels across South Carolina, many people spoke fondly of their associations with Dean Anderson and credited him with providing excellent advocacy for our land-grant mission in support of a strong agricultural sector of the state’s economy.  He had a lasting impact on Clemson University, which is still felt today through his strong advocacy for agricultural education, extension and research,” Tom Scott, College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences dean from 2011-2014

Anderson is survived by his son and daughter, and family and friends.
