Carson Keen’s story is a testament to the power of seizing opportunities and staying involved. Starting the Clemson MBA program as a full-time student, Carson later transitioned to part-time enrollment after landing a full-time position—demonstrating the program’s flexibility and ability to support students at different stages of their professional journeys.
Carson’s journey to Clemson’s MBA program began during his undergraduate years at Bob Jones University, where a coffee chat with Kristin Hawk and an open house visit left a lasting impression of warmth and opportunity. These experiences solidified his decision to apply, setting him on a transformative path. Early in the program, Carson secured an internship with Meritage Homes, which soon developed into a full-time role in their Purchasing department. He credits courses like Dr. Peyton’s decision modeling class to provide practical skills and real-world insights, enabling him to excel and confidently address complex challenges.
Outside of his professional and academic commitments, Carson leads a dynamic life. He is a member of the Greenville Rugby Club and is actively involved in his church. He has a background in violin, performing at weddings and concerts across the Upstate area—highlighting the value of balancing personal passions with career aspirations. He also actively participates in the MBA Student Association (MBASA), starting as the Working Professional Chair, where he developed opportunities for students to manage work and studies. Now serving as a philanthropy co-chair, Carson organizes events that connect students with the local community.

One of his favorite initiatives is the Meyer Center Trunk or Treat, where MBA students distribute candy to children with disabilities. Events like this allow students to give back while building meaningful connections with peers and the broader community. Reflecting on his involvement, Carson shares, “You can’t just wait around for things to happen for you, but actively create opportunities,” emphasizing the proactive mindset that has fueled his success and growth in the program.
Carson remains committed to forging strong ties between the MBA program and the Greenville community. Through his leadership in MBASA, he continues to organize initiatives that engage students, promote service, and create opportunities to make a meaningful impact. With more events planned for the spring, Carson looks forward to further expanding the program’s reach and fostering connections for current and future students.
As Carson prepares to graduate in December 2025, he’s already considering how his Clemson MBA will continue to open doors. “Having that paw on your résumé speaks volumes,” he shares, acknowledging the strength of Clemson’s reputation and alumni network. Beyond his career, Carson hopes to give back by supporting future students as an engaged alumnus.
Carson encourages current and prospective MBA students to embrace their journey purposefully: “Remember that you chose Clemson for a reason. Build connections with your teachers and classmates, and take the opportunity to mentor others. It’s incredibly rewarding to look back and see the results of your hard work.”
For Carson, the MBA experience has been about more than academics—it’s been a journey of forging relationships, giving back, and developing as a leader. His story highlights the importance of effort, involvement, and seizing opportunities. As he looks to the future, Carson is ready to make an even more significant impact, exemplifying the values of dedication, connection, and mentorship that Clemson instills in its students.
