Stone Tracy, a current student in Clemson’s MBA Online program, is set to graduate in August 2027. While balancing a demanding career, rigorous coursework, and family life, Stone exemplifies what it means to embrace the MBA experience fully. As a devoted father, he prioritizes maintaining a strong work-life balance while continuing to excel both professionally and academically.
That same intentionality carries into how he approaches his education. From the start of his MBA journey, Stone has made the most of every opportunity available to him. “I picked up the Data Analytics certificate to complement my MBA, which has really helped me learn how to visualize better and communicate data,” he shares. In addition, he credits his seminar with Dr. Jane Layton as a meaningful influence—particularly the journaling system she introduced, which he continues to use daily to stay focused and reflective.
This classroom growth has translated directly into his professional life. In his role as a Financial Business Manager within Clemson’s College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences, Stone has found a renewed connection to the University. “The program has allowed me to meet others across the University, outside of finance and my college, which has really helped expand my network within Clemson,” he explains. Alongside building relationships, he has also modernized his approach to work, gaining new skills in information technology systems and adapting to evolving industry practices.

At the heart of it all is Stone’s commitment to balancing his many roles. He often refers to himself as a “career dad grad,” a phrase that reflects his dedication to both his family and his professional growth. This balance would not be possible without the support system behind him—especially his wife and mother-in-law, whom he credits for helping him succeed. “I like to be an overachiever and sign up for everything presented to me, whether it’s a committee, volunteer opportunity, or extra class,” he says. At the same time, he emphasizes that the Clemson MBA faculty and staff have been understanding and supportive, making the experience both manageable and deeply rewarding.
That drive to stay involved is evident across campus. Beyond his full-time role, Stone actively contributes to numerous organizations, including the Clemson Dining Advisory Board, the Mechanical Engineering ABET Committee, and programs such as the Clemson Leadership (CXL) Program, the Society of Collegiate Leadership and Achievement, Tigers Together for suicide prevention, and the Clemson Online Student Advisory Board. In addition, he is a Clemson Notary Public and a member of Phi Kappa Phi, having earned a 4.0 GPA, further underscoring his commitment to excellence.
Looking ahead, Stone’s ambitions remain just as strong. He aims to complete 28 years of state service, continue advancing in his career and become involved in initiatives such as CU Grow and the President’s Leadership Institute. Each goal reflects his desire to keep growing both personally and professionally.

With that perspective, Stone offers thoughtful advice to fellow students: “Take full advantage of anything offered to you, whether it’s a certificate, an elective, or an event. Networking and experience are what truly make a difference.” His words echo the very approach that has defined his journey so far.
Ultimately, Stone’s story highlights the depth of opportunity within the Clemson MBA Online program. His experience proves that being an online student does not limit involvement—it simply requires initiative. By showing up, staying engaged and embracing every opportunity, he has created a meaningful and impactful MBA journey.
Stone Tracy is nothing short of remarkable, and we are proud to have him as part of the Clemson MBA community. His journey serves as both an inspiration and a blueprint for others looking to grow, lead and succeed.
