During the Artisphere festival, visitors were able to use audio files to create drawings using simple technology attached to a cell phone. Typically drawing robots are complicated systems which use stepper motors and microcontrollers, but CMERL Robot is simple, it’s controlled by any device with a headphone jack. The three wire protocol (Tip, Ring and Sleeve of a stereo audio cable) is all you need to drive the robot. The CMERL Robot works by using the power from the audio output of your phone, computer, or any other devices to control the servo’s position.
