Undergraduate Students give back to the Community

September 27, 2010

Mechanical Engineering students volunteered time to resolve a solution for the Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center Children’s Hospital.  The Children’s Hospital has an entertainment room that is open 24hrs, and they had a need to permit patient’s to play videos and games without having to monitor or check out components. The first project was to design a novel entertainment center to meet the design objectives. The second project was to integrate the Wii console into the entertainment system. This project was completely funded by Pi Tau Sigma,  designed by students in the ME student Shop, and final fabrication and delivery was completed by the newest initiates of Pi Tau Sigma. Dr. Todd Schweisinger has headed up the projects and looks forward to continuing to provide experience for undergraduate students while encouraging students to give back to their community.
