Equipment

  • Stove

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour all purpose
  • 1 cup flour whole wheat
  • 3 TBSP olive oil extra virgin
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup water hot
  • 1 tsp baking powder

Instructions

  • In a food processor, add your flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until just combined.
  • Next, stream in the 3 tbsp of oil, mixing until the flour mixture is fully coated and the mix appears sandy.
  • After adding the oil, pulse the mixture as you add the hot water. Continue to mix until you have a smooth dough. Let this set on the counter for 15 minutes. Before diving into the dough, knead for 30 seconds to 1 minute to bring it together and ensure it is soft.
  • Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. When you're ready to make the tortilla, roll each dough ball out into a small circle.
  • Heat a griddle or skillet over medium heat. Cook the tortilla on each side for roughly 2 minutes, flipping once or twice in between.
  • You can place your tortillas in a clean dish towel to keep them warm and soft.
