Clemson University’s Fightin’ Tiger Battalion conducted an introductory lab on the 21st of August. With 75 new Freshmen Cadets, the Sophomores and Juniors were guiding the new cadets to their first ever battalion formation. The Seniors gave briefings on the variety of ROTC sponsored clubs including: Perishing Rifles, Ranger Challenge, Ranger Club, Scabbard and Blade, and Tiger Platoon. An interesting quote came from Cadet Garcia, “Scabbard and Blade is the brains and brawn of ROTC!” Scabbard and Blade is a joint Army Air Force ROTC Club that strives to keep Clemson’s military heritage alive. “I wish when I was a freshmen coming into the program that we had an indoor seminar like we did,” thought Cadet Breakiron, an ML III this year. Just a few years back, the introduction lab was a block of instruction outdoors where each club would simply brief the Cadets. This year, with the use of Brackett Hall, new Cadets got an enhanced view of Clemson ROTC, improving the past model. This is the first lab of many for the Fall 2014 semester.
