Here are some updates and new information from this past week.
- Per the update from President Clements on September 4, hybrid classes will begin on September 21 as planned.
- The Fall CECAS Faculty Meeting will be at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, September 9.
- Thank you for participating in the Engage Online campaign launched on August 31. Students who have been identified by instructors have received an email directing them to relevant resources. Academic advisors are also following up with students as needed.
- Please use the CECAS Student Engagement Reporting Tool to report attendance at activities and events that are hosted outside of class. We will periodically share reports about student engagement in your departments. If you advise a student organization, please have your organization used this as well.
- The University Testing Center in Vickery Hall will open for in-person accommodated testing when we shift to hybrid classes. They will continue to offer Pearson VUE testing (e.g., FE exam), but University accommodated testing will take priority.
- If students enrolled in a hybrid class test positive for COVID-19, the process is as follows:
- The student should use the Notice of Absence process (or email) to inform instructors of their move online for the next two weeks.
- Redfern will be in contact with these students while in isolation or quarantine.
- The Office of Advocacy and Success (OAS) and Undergraduate Studies will monitor students as well.
- Most students will be able to continue their studies online until cleared by Redfern.
- For those who become extremely ill, OAS and Undergraduate Studies will work with these students to navigate missed exams and assignments and advise on the need for a medical withdrawal or incomplete if needed.
- Undergraduate Studies will also work with students who decide to move back home and complete their courses online for the remainder of the semester.
- The COVID-19 Schedule App launched on my.clemson.edu last week. It has been updated since, so instructors should check for updates. As a reminder, instructors shall not change these assignments. In the rare situation that the total enrollment is less than or equal to the classroom capacity, an exception can be made to have all students meet in-person every day, but this must be approved by your chair/director and the associate dean for undergraduate studies, Brad Putman.
- The application for students to request accommodations for online only classes remains open and requests continue to be approved.
- Tutoring and other course support services have started in a virtual mode. More information is available at http://www.clemson.edu/cecas/current-students/advising/online-tutoring.html.
- CECAS has started a new technology loaner program for CECAS undergraduate students. This includes a limited number of laptops and webcams. More details about the request process will be forthcoming.
- Fall enrollment is still holding strong University-wide.
- Students will start moving into on-campus housing beginning on September 11 and continue through September 18. More information can be found on the Clemson Housing and Dining website.
- CECAS prospective student virtual information sessions (aka, Friday tours) are scheduled to begin on September 18.
- The CECAS Student Advisory Board (SAB) met for the first time this semester on August 27.
