Here are some updates from the last couple of weeks for your information.
COVID-19 Updates
- Continue to read the OURClemson emails and refer to the Healthy Clemson website for the most up-to-date information related to COVID-19.
Enrollment Management
- Chris Porter continues to share data with chairs/director about students who have paid deposits to attend Clemson in a CECAS major each week. We are a little above where we were last year at this time, but pretty close. We anticipate some “melt” or decrease in the numbers before the first day of classes, but we expect to be similar to where we were last year.
- The University is expecting to have a first-year class that exceeds the anticipated target. Units across campus are working on plans to accommodate this increase.
Recruitment
- We will have two CECAS tours or information sessions this summer. The session in June will be virtual and we will determine if we can offer the July session in-person based on the guidance from the University.
- REMINDER: Per the Health & Safety Directives for University Visitors, CECAS is not hosting campus or facility tours for prospective students. Campus facilities are still restricted to only Clemson student and employees. If you wish to invite a guest to campus, you will need to complete the Request Form for approval.
Student Engagement
- We are reviewing applications for the second round of Undergraduate Research Grants. Students will notified in the next couple of weeks.
Orientation
- Undergraduate Orientation will be divided into virtual and in-person components. The virtual component will focus on advising and course registration in June-July. Sessions begin on June 3.
- The in-person components of orientation will take place August 13-14 and first-year students will move-in August 10-12. More details about this orientation are still being finalized.
Student Advisory Board
- We are updating the membership of the CECAS Student Advisory Board (undergraduate) for the 2021-2022 academic year. Student representatives are appointed by their respective department chair or school director. The board is comprised of:
- Three (3) undergraduate students from each of the following departments: Bioengineering, Chemical & Bimolecular Engineering, Civil Engineering, School of Computing, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Environmental Engineering & Earth Sciences, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
- One (1) undergraduate student representative from each of the following organizations: NSBE, oSTEM, PEER, and SHPE.
The departmental representatives for the 2021-22 academic year will serve a term from June 2021 – April 2022.
Assessment
- REMINDER: Dr. Ashley Childers and Regina Taylor are holding weekly office hours for those who have questions or want to discuss topics related to assessment on Mondays (11:00-noon) and Tuesdays (10:30-11:30). Links to the virtual office hours are available in MS Teams (CECAS Assessment Community).
