Here are some updates from the last couple of weeks for your information.
COVID-19 Updates
- Continue to read the OURClemson emails and refer to the Healthy Clemson website for the most up-to-date information related to COVID-19.
Fall Course Planning
- The process for students to request a Course Modality Modification for Summer and Fall 2021 has been finalized and was included in OURClemson on Monday. There are deadlines for students to submit their request and supporting documentation.
General Education
- The new General Education Curriculum, Crossings, has been approved and will be implemented starting Fall 2022. One major change in the Crossings curriculum is the incorporation of 6 credit hours of Challenges. To support the implementation of Crossings, there are resources for Faculty and Advisors. One resource in particular to review is “What is a Challenges Course in the Crossings Curriculum?” Please work with your faculty and staff to review your curricula to identify potential changes that need to be made. Also, some of your current courses may likely be easily adapted to meet the criteria of a Challenges course.
Recruitment
- Beginning on April 16, the University will start providing in-person tours on a limited basis. There will be two tours per day on M-F (9:00 am and 1:00 pm) that will be limited to 12-15 guests each. These tours will not enter campus buildings.
- Per the Health & Safety Directives for University Visitors, CECAS is not hosting campus or facility tours for prospective students. Campus facilities are still restricted to only Clemson student and employees. If you wish to invite a guest to campus, you will need to complete the Request Form for approval.
Assessment
- The next CECAS Assessment Community discussion will be on April 21 at 11:00 am.
- Dr. Ashley Childers and Regina Taylor are holding weekly office hours for those who have questions or want to discuss topics related to assessment on Mondays (11:00-noon) and Tuesdays (10:30-11:30). Links to the virtual office hours are available in MS Teams (CECAS Assessment Community).
Student Engagement
- In partnership with the Office of Global Engagement, CECAS hosted a workshop on International Virtual Exchange (IVE) for faculty on April 9. This is an effective way in incorporate global learning into a course or curriculum and it can be low-stakes. The Office of Global Engagement has multiple resources to assist faculty with this.
- CECAS is accepting proposals for Student Organization Grants. There will be a second call for Undergraduate Research Grants out soon. More information can be found at the CECAS Opportunity Grants website.
- LEAD Forward is continuing to grow and evolve. In the Fall, we will start two new cohorts: First-year cohort and continuing student cohort. We will also begin a LEAD Forward Faculty/Staff cohort in the Fall. The goal of the Faculty/Staff cohort is to not just provide a leadership development opportunity for our colleagues, but to also establish a cohort of leadership champions that can infuse leadership development into their interactions with undergraduate students (e.g., classes, advising, mentoring, conversations, etc.). More information will be forthcoming.
