Greetings fellow Tigers!

The Clemson family is like no other, and the stories of our greatest supporters can inspire all of us to be engaged with the University we love.

As longtime Clemson ambassadors, Joe and Cathy Turner are enthusiastic supporters of the most iconic symbol of our University: the Clemson Tiger. The couple’s deep appreciation for the Clemson Tiger inspired them to establish the Joe and Cathy Turner Mascot Program Operating Account, which ensures the Tiger Mascot will remain the symbol of the Clemson Family’s determined spirit to be competitive – both in and out of the classroom. Through their generous gift, Cathy and Joe serve to motivate and inspire us all to give back. In addition to their planned support of the Tiger Mascot, the Turners are fervent believers in the power of education to open doors and enhance livelihoods. They are devoted benefactors to Clemson’s FIRST Generation Success program. This program assists with breaking down the barriers to higher education for students entering Clemson as the first person in their family to attend college. Beyond their current support of these programs, Cathy and Joe have ensured that their legacy of philanthropy will continue through an estate gift that will permanently endow and provide financial support for the Tiger Mascot and our FIRST Generation Success program in perpetuity. Thank you, Joe and Cathy, for being unwavering leaders and fierce supporters for Clemson. Your thoughtful generosity to help members of the Clemson Family reach their full potential is an inspiration to all of us! You can read more about Joe and Cathy and their commitment to Clemson here.

The Clemson Alumni Association has named Jackie Reynolds as our newest honorary Clemson alumna. Thank you, Jackie, for everything you do for Clemson, and on behalf of the Clemson family, I would like to congratulate you on this well-deserved honor!

Jackie Reynolds is our newest honorary Clemson alumna.

Jeannette Carr, who was often known as “The Veggie Lady” and “Queen of the Market,” passed away April 1, 2019, after a battle with cancer. But more than three months later as the Ridge Spring Farmer’s Market bustled with its regular Saturday crowd, her community spirit and passion for produce were still plenty palpable. And it’s because her family is making certain that her legacy continues through the Emma Jeannette Carr Memorial Endowment, which was established by her husband, Brig. General Chalmers “Hap” Carr (’60). The endowment is to be used to advance vegetable gardening education and outreach through the Clemson Cooperative Extension Service, and all proceeds from the sale of produce from the flat-bed trailer overflowing with fruits and vegetables grown at nearby Titan Farms are to be donated to the endowment in honor of her love of gardening. After Jeannette passed in April, there was some initial doubt about whether her produce — and in turn, her presence — would still be felt at the Ridge Spring Farmer’s Market on Saturdays. Hap said he quickly realized it was important to continue her legacy for at least another year, but also decided on one major caveat: that all the proceeds go toward her endowment. What a wonderful testament to the Clemson spirit and tradition of philanthropy! You can read more here.

B-ready to celebrate!
It was another exciting win for the Clemson Tigers Saturday in Chapel Hill! It was a Solid Orange Saturday as the Clemson family showed up in great numbers to watch the Tigers defeat North Carolina in a nail-biting victory. The team gets a much deserved break this week as they prepare to face Florida State next Saturday in Death Valley.

Please mark your calendars for Nov. 1 when Clemson University will celebrate Legacy Day by honoring alumni and members of the extended Clemson family who live out its tradition of philanthropy. Legacy Day invites students to spend time in the home of our founder and celebrate the power of philanthropy as they consider how they too can leave their mark. Activities, including tours of the grounds and a scavenger hunt, will be at Fort Hill from 1 to 3 p.m. Immediately following Legacy Day, a formal ceremony under the Second Century Oak at 3 p.m. will dedicate a bronze leaf to the newest inductee to the Fort Hill Legacy Society, a posthumous honor for those who bequeath $1 million or more to the University.

Legacy Day serves as an example of how Clemson celebrates our past while also looking optimistically toward the future and taking action today to move Clemson forward. Thank you for your dedication and support to Clemson!

Go Tigers!

Nieri family is celebrated as fifth Cornerstone Partner for Academics.

Greetings Tigers! As Davis and I mentioned in the video above, we are so grateful to the Nieri family for their wonderful and generous $5 million Academic Cornerstone gift to name the Nieri Family Department of Construction Science and Management – the first named department in the College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities. As longtime friends and supporters of Clemson, Michael and Robyn are committed to the mission and vision of our University – athletically and academically –and are, yet again, blazing the trail for Clemson. Their leadership and transformational gifts to Clemson have been significantly impacting our student-athletes in the Nieri Family Student-Athlete Enrichment Center. And now, they are expanding that impact across our campus. The Nieri Family Department of Construction Science and Management will receive funding for:

-Experiential learning projects at the CSM Construction Yard at Ravenel with a focus on residential construction;
-A new Residential Construction Professor of Practice faculty position; and
-The Nieri Family Endowment, which will provide perpetual funding for the above initiatives.

Please watch this special video honoring the Nieris and their commitment to Clemson. You can view photos from the gift announcement and watch a video recapping the event. You can also read more about Michael and Robyn and their gift here.

Clemson University welcomed Ratan Tata to campus this week. Yesterday, Dr. Tata spent some time with the Tata Fellows, a fellowship program supported by Tata Trusts that allows students from the PSG College of Technology in India to pursue their master’s degrees at CU-ICAR. Clemson University also held its inaugural Global Leaders Forum. The forum featured Dr. Tata answering questions from students about global impact, philanthropy and business. Dr. Tata is an industrialist, investor and philanthropist. He was the chairman of the Tata Group (1991-2012, 2016-2017), a Mumbai-based conglomerate. The Tata Group of Companies is the leading corporation of India and has more than 90 operating companies in seven business sectors: communications and information technology, engineering, materials, services, energy, consumer products and chemicals. They currently operate in more than 80 countries with more than 395,000 employees worldwide. Dr. Tata received a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Cornell in 1962, completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 1975 and received an honorary doctorate of automotive engineering from Clemson University in 2015. The government of India honored Dr. Tata with its second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, in 2008. It was an honor for Clemson to welcome Dr. Tata to our campus.

Clemson University also held its inaugural Global Leaders Forum, featuring Dr. Ratan Tata.

It was another great win for the Tigers on Saturday night in Death Valley. The 52 – 10 win over UNC Charlotte advanced the Tigers to 4 – 0 for the season. The team travels to Chapel Hill this weekend to take on the University of North Carolina.

B- Powerful!
The Nieri family embodies the spirt of philanthropy at Clemson that has been a part of our history since the beginning. It’s because of donors – like Michael and Robyn – that we are able to continue honoring our University’s greatest tradition.

Michael, Robyn and their family exhibit the character, leadership and spirit of the Clemson Tiger. Their love for Clemson runs deep. Michael and Robyn are forever leaving their mark at Clemson University. The commitment of the Clemson family is powerful, and with your support, we will continue to be a championship university in academics and athletics.

Go Tigers! Beat UNC!

Greetings fellow Tigers!

I hope you all watched the Tigers play an exciting game against Syracuse Saturday night. What an amazing victory for our football team! Through hard work and determination, the Tigers have advanced to 3-0 for the season and continue their 18 game winning streak. Whether the games are at home or away, we love spending our weekends supporting our Tigers surrounded by our Clemson family. We’re looking forward to another weekend of football when the Tigers return to Death Valley to face UNC Charlotte on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The semester is in full-swing, and our football team remains undefeated! It’s a great time to be a Clemson Tiger!

I was honored to attend this year’s Board of Trustees Volunteer Leadership Reception, where we had the opportunity to express our gratitude for the Board of Trustees and all their hard work. Their leadership throughout the year is vital to making Clemson a championship university – on the field and in the classroom.

Board of Trustees Leadership Reception in support of the Clemson Career Workshop endowment that supports recruitment of underrepresented minority students. Held at Madren Center in the Main Ballroom.

If you’ve been around our campus this week, you’ve undoubtedly noticed a few film crews and actors. Disney Studios is producing a film that will highlight the life story of former Clemson football player Ray Ray McElrathbey. The movie, titled “Safety,” is based on the life of Ray Ray, who assumed custody of his then-11-year-old brother, Fahmarr, while he was attending Clemson and playing for the football team in 2006. Because of the extenuating circumstances – their mother was in drug rehab and their father was not present in their lives – the NCAA granted a waiver that allowed Clemson coaches, staff and others in the community to assist Ray Ray with the daily duties of caring for Fahmarr. As we are known to do, the Clemson family joined together to help Ray Ray and Fahmarr, giving the younger brother rides to and from school and setting up a trust fund for Fahmarr’s care. That fund received more than $46,000 in donations within the first two weeks of its creation.

Filming for “Safety” will continue throughout the weekend and will include a special filming during halftime of the game in Death Valley, replicating the Tigers’ 2006 season opening game against Florida Atlantic, when Ray Ray, a defensive back, had four tackles. This is a great opportunity for us to show the nation the dedication and unwavering support of the Clemson family.

B- a champion!
Whether you’re watching the games from home, cheering in Death Valley or traveling across the country, the support of our Clemson fans can be felt anywhere – and any time. But the dedication of the Clemson family exceeds far beyond the football stadium. Academically and athletically, we are a championship university, and we continue to prove that through our awards, discoveries and innovations. Thank you for your dedication and commitment and for being a champion for Clemson!

I hope to see many of you this weekend when Clemson football returns home for a match-up against UNC Charlotte.

Go Tigers! Beat Charlotte!

Greetings fellow Tigers!

This morning I had the privilege of joining Clemson’s leadership, Director of the South Carolina Botanical Garden Dr. Patrick McMillan, and Clemson donors, alumni and friends to celebrate the official opening of the McBride Aquatic Garden. In 2015, Mike and Lynn McBride made a very generous $1 million gift to support the Children’s Garden at the South Carolina Botanical Garden. Their gift – the largest single gift ever given for the Botanical Garden – has allowed the Children’s Garden to expand. The focal point of that expansion is a beautiful dock and gazebo at the duck pond, where we gathered today to celebrate this amazing gift from the McBride family. I know this space will be an amazing place for families and friends to gather and enjoy the wonders of nature. Thank you, Mike and Lynn, for your philanthropic spirit and for inspiring the rest of us to follow your example of dedication and commitment to Clemson! You can view photos from the official opening of the McBride Aquatic Garden here.

With the support of corporate partners, especially Wells Fargo, Clemson University is inspiring students who have dreamed of a college education and greatly benefit from additional support and resources to reach their goals in life. Emerging Scholars and Call Me MISTER have been the leading diversity initiatives at Clemson University to provide these students with the knowledge, desire and resources to pursue higher education. The strong partnership between Wells Fargo and Clemson University has allowed Call Me MISTER and Emerging Scholars to continue to significantly impact education throughout South Carolina, provide life-changing opportunities and encourage students to pursue greater dreams. Since 1981, Wells Fargo has given more than $4 million to the University. Among its many contributions to Clemson, the company has established the Wells Fargo Student Scholarship Endowment within the College of Business, awarding more than 100 scholarships to date. The company’s dollar-for-dollar employee matching program has also provided substantial support. With 350 Clemson alumni working for Wells Fargo, the program has generated more than $760,000. Clemson recently celebrated another gift from Wells Fargo – an additional $300,000 gift benefiting Emerging Scholars and Call Me MISTER. $175,000 will support Call Me MISTER, and $125,000 will benefit Emerging Scholars. You can read more about the partnership between Clemson and Wells Fargo here.

I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Candice Glenn to our Clemson alumni family! Candi has been a special member of our Clemson family for many years, and it is fitting that she is now an honorary alumna. Candi and her husband Gerald have been longtime supporters of Clemson University. Among their many contributions, Gerald and Candi named the Glenn Department of Civil Engineering and made a $2.5 million unrestricted gift to athletics, making them the ninth Athletic Cornerstone Partner.

Candice Glenn is recognized as an honorary alumna during a Clemson football tailgate.

Clemson University officials, community leaders and philanthropists came together recently for a dedication ceremony marking the grand opening of a multipurpose dining facility at Camp Hannon. The mountainous 80-acre Upstate site in Pickens County is one of five locations across the state where the Clemson University Youth Learning Institute (YLI) provides programming to educate, develop and serve the youth of South Carolina and beyond. The 47,000-square-foot building provides tremendous flexibility and was designed to accommodate the diverse needs of Camp Hannon visitors and YLI staff. In 2010, The Scott Hannon Memorial Foundation and Clemson University forged a partnership to serve the youth in South Carolina by building capacity at Camp Hannon. This first phase of development included the construction of two cabins with lodging for 75 people. The multipurpose facility dedication ceremony marks a new milestone for both partners as growth continues at Camp Hannon. You can read more here.

B- the best!
It was another exciting win for the Tigers on Saturday in Death Valley! Despite the heat, the Tigers were able to defeat the Aggies 24 – 10. Congratulations to our football team and coaches for another great victory! The Tigers will head to the Carrier Dome to take on Syracuse for their first road contest this Saturday, Sept. 14. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.

Clemson is consistently showing the nation that we are the best – from our championship teams to our groundbreaking research to our outstanding academics. The unwavering support of our alumni, friends and corporate partners allows Clemson to continue to provide the best education and experiences to our students. Thank you for all you do for Clemson! Your commitment and support are moving Clemson forward!

Go Tigers!

Greetings fellow Tigers!

From a parade featuring the Budweiser Clydesdales to a Tiger victory over Georgia Tech to Ring Week, it was an exciting week in Tiger Town! The game debuted the new ACC Network, and it was a great victory for our Tigers, led by Travis Etienne with 205 rushing yards. The highlight of the night for both the Tigers and Etienne came on a 90-yard touchdown run in the opening quarter, tying the longest run in school history and the longest run by a Tiger at Memorial Stadium. The Tigers extended their winning streak to 16 games, dating back to the start of the 2018 season. Clemson hosts Texas A&M in Death Valley this Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

A generous $1.25 million gift from the Darnall W. & Susan F. Boyd Foundation to Clemson University’s College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences is giving 80 freshmen the opportunity to participate in a new program that helps them ease into the challenging math courses that too often derail students’ dreams of becoming engineers. The program, Boyd Scholars, targets freshman engineering majors who need a little extra time to complete their required calculus courses. Students will take an extended curriculum that delays their start in calculus, yet keeps them on track to finish their required courses before the start of their sophomore year. The Boyd family said the gift helps honor Darnall W. Boyd, who lived in Columbia virtually all of his life and died in 2015 at 88 years old. You can read more about the Boyd Scholars and the gift from the Darnall W. & Susan F. Boyd Foundation here.

Among the many celebrations and special events last week, the Clemson Alumni Association hosted Ring Week – when many of our Clemson students are invited to the Alumni Center to order their rings. While there are many traditions among the Clemson family, the Clemson University ring is among our most sacred and valued. Our Clemson rings have a way of bringing us together – even when we are thousands of miles away from Clemson, across the nation or around the world. Elements throughout the Clemson ring pay tribute to the University’s land-grant and military heritages, along with the motto, “Who shall separate us now?”

Clemson students celebrate Ring Week on campus.

I am looking forward to seeing many of you again this weekend in Tiger Town, beginning with another parade. The First Friday Parade — featuring community groups, university departments, Panhellenic and service sororities, and other student organizations — is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 6 at 6 p.m., preceding Clemson’s first home Saturday football game. The parade will follow a different route than in previous years. Click here to learn more.

This year’s parade theme is “Setting the Stage for Greatness” and aims to highlight how alumni contributions to Clemson have fostered greatness on and off the football field. From school spirit to networking to packing Death Valley seven Saturdays during the fall semester, Clemson is a special place because of the dedication and commitment of our Clemson alumni. Nancy O’Dell (’90) will serve as this year’s grand marshal. The Emmy Award-winning journalist has put together a noteworthy career as a host, author, producer and entrepreneur. She co-hosted “Entertainment Tonight” over the past nine years and “Access Hollywood” from 1996 to 2009.

The Clemson Young Alumni Council and the Clemson Alumni Association invite you to the Clemson Fall Band Party Reunion this Friday night, Sept. 6, at Swanson’s Warehouse in Greenville. As you’re heading into town this weekend for the Texas A&M game, join your fellow Tigers and enjoy live music, a food truck, games and a silent auction. You can read more about the event and buy tickets here.

B-Thoughtful.
Please keep all those affected my Hurricane Dorian in your thoughts and prayers as some recover from destruction and others prepare to weather a tremendous storm. I know our Clemson family will be among those leading the way to offer assistance to those who need it. During the last week, and for months to come, we will see many powerful moments as our nation comes together to help one another.

Times of hardship can inspire us to give back – of our time, money and resources. Clemson was built upon the spirit of giving, and the power of philanthropy is resilient at Clemson. But it’s important to remember that our tradition of generosity extends far beyond our campus.

I hope to see you all in Clemson this weekend as we welcome Texas A&M to Death Valley!

Go Tigers! Beat the Aggies!

B-Note August 29, 2019

Happy Game Day, fellow Tigers!

We are officially kicking off the football season today, and the atmosphere around our campus is electric. The Clemson family has been anxiously waiting for this since the Tigers won the National Championship in January. And what a way to start the new season! The ACC Network has officially launched, and the first live game on the new network is today’s match-up between Clemson and Georgia Tech. And if that wasn’t exciting enough, Gameday is here!

Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso, Desmond Howard and Maria Taylor of ESPN College Gameday will be inside Gate 5 in the northeast corner of Death Valley previewing the game from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The show is scheduled to be simulcast on ESPN and ACCN from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. and then moves to ACCN exclusively from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., leading up to kickoff. This will be different from Gameday’s past appearances on the Clemson campus, and it will NOT take place on Bowman Field. For this special edition show, fans are encouraged to enter the stadium early and get to their seats to create a fantastic atmosphere for a national audience. Let’s show the nation why game day in Death Valley is so special!

Metal detector screening procedures are in effect at all gates at Memorial Stadium starting this season. You are encouraged to arrive early to ensure a smooth process. Gates are scheduled to open at 5:30 p.m., and the clear bag policy is still being enforced. Visit ClemsonTigers.com/gamedaysecurity for details.

If you’re attending today’s game, be sure to join your fellow Tigers in Lot 5 at 5:50 p.m. for Tiger Walk as our football team makes its initial entrance into the stadium. In its 11th year, Tiger Walk has become a special game day tradition that brings together our Clemson family to celebrate our Tigers. You don’t want to miss it!

B-Loud and Tiger proud!
On nearly every car, you can see orange flags flying from windows; grills are being fired up; and a cadence count could erupt any minute. There’s nothing quite like fall in Clemson! We can’t wait to hear the first cannon in Death Valley today as we join with more than 80,000 of our fellow Tigers to cheer for our reigning National Champions!

To my fellow Tigers in Tiger Town today, enjoy the game day atmosphere. And to those who are cheering from afar, be sure to cheer loudly for our Tigers.

Go Tigers! Beat Georgia Tech!

Greetings fellow Tigers!

It was a special weekend in Tiger Town, and I was happy to be a part of a monumental time in our students’ lives. I joined our University leaders to assist our students as they moved into their new homes here at Clemson. You can view photos from Move In here. Once the students were settled, we were able to officially kick off the new academic year Monday morning during Convocation in Littlejohn Coliseum. Freshmen, transfer and graduate students, along with faculty and staff, attended the annual ceremony and heard remarks from a number of distinguished speakers, including President James P. Clements and academic cornerstone partner Joe Erwin. Convocation was centered around the theme of T-I-G-E-R-S (tradition, inspiration, gratitude, experience, ring and success).

Our new students had the privilege of hearing encouraging words from a very respected and generous member of the Clemson Family, Joe Erwin. Joe graduated from Clemson in 1979 with a degree in political science, and last year, he and his wife, Gretchen, became the university’s second Academic Cornerstone Partner. Joe and Gretchen contributed a $2.5 million gift, including $1 million for the new College of Business building and $1.5 million for student scholarship and programming support for communication students and adjunct faculty. In 2012, Joe and Gretchen established The Erwin Center for Advertising and Communication, now the Erwin Center for Brand Communications, at Clemson. Thank you, Joe, for being an avid supporter of Clemson University and for sharing your insight and knowledge with our students.

Joe Erwin speaks at the 2019 Convocation in Littlejohn Coliseum.

Following the annual faculty meeting on Monday, Clemson celebrated several endowed chairs in Burton Gallery in Littlejohn Coliseum. This also gave us the opportunity to recognize the generous donors who have provided the funding to help attract and support these eminent scholars. The endowed chairs included:

-Dr. Amy Apon: C. Tycho Howle Director of the School of Computing and Endowed Chair, established by Tycho and Marie Howle in the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences

-Dr. Mark Johnson: Thomas F. Hash ’69 Endowed Chair in Sustainable Development, established by Thomas and Becky Hash in the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences

-Dr. Winifred E. Newman: Homer Curtis Mickel and Leona Carter Mickel Endowed Chair in Architecture, established by Mrs. Homozel Mickel Daniel in the College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities

Endowed Chairs were honred after the annual faculty meeting to kick off the 2019 academic year.

On Tuesday, we held our annual Welcome Back Festival in downtown Clemson – sponsored by the Clemson Alumni Association and the Student Alumni Council. The 31st annual festival featured more than 80 local vendors offering a variety of merchandise and food. President Clements and Clemson Mayor J.C. Cook spoke during the event, and the Tiger mascot was there – along with the Clemson Spirit Squad – to pump up the crowd! $16,187.55 was raised during the festival to support the Student Alumni Council Scholarship Endowment Fund. It is wonderful to see events that can bring together the Clemson family while also honoring Clemson’s history and commitment to philanthropy!

B – Excited for the future!
It has been a busy week on the Clemson campus, and the fall semester has officially begun. The excitement for the future can be felt throughout our campus, reminding me that these bright and talented students would not be here without you. Your gifts to Clemson are creating opportunities for Clemson students and impacting their lives in incredible ways. Because of your support, students across our campus are following their dreams. Please watch this special video highlighting a student who has been directly impacted by your gifts to Clemson. You can also read more about your impact on our students through scholarships here. The enhancements happening around our campus are possible because of your generosity and commitment to Clemson. The new College of Business building is transforming before our eyes – daily! The long-awaited child development center, the expansion and renovation to the IPTAY building and the Snow Family Outdoor Fitness and Wellness Center are all quickly advancing through various construction phases, but they all remain on track for their projected completion dates. Thank you for making these developments at Clemson possible! You can read more about the progress of these projects here.

Greetings fellow Tigers!

Tomorrow, we will welcome more than 1,000 new alumni to our Clemson family. Students from all seven of Clemson’s colleges will participate in a graduation ceremony at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in Littlejohn Coliseum. At 3 p.m. this afternoon, a doctoral hooding ceremony for approximately 85 prospective Ph.D. candidates will take place in the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts. Today’s doctoral hooding and Friday’s graduation will be streamed live for those unable to attend. You can find additional details here.

We are always excited and honored to see Clemson being recognized as one of the best – in more ways than one! The annual Best Colleges guide was released Tuesday, and the Princeton Review ranked Clemson as No. 1 in two categories: best career services and town-gown relations are great. In total, Clemson was ranked among the top 10 colleges in nine categories, the most ever, including:

-Best Career Services (No. 1)
-Town-Gown Relations are Great (No. 1)
-Students Pack the Stadiums (No. 2)
-Everyone Plays Intramural Sports (No. 6)
-Happiest Students (No. 7)
-Best Schools for Internships (No. 7)
-Best Alumni Network (No. 8)
-Their Students Love These Colleges (No. 9)

The Princeton Review chooses colleges based on data it annually collects from administrators at hundreds of colleges about their institutions’ academic offerings. The Princeton Review also considers data it gathers from its surveys of college students who rate and report on various aspects of their campus and community experiences for this project. B- Proud!
As Clemson Tigers, we are proud to be a part of a University that continues to excel – in the classroom and on the field. We know Clemson is special, and while it doesn’t take lists and rankings to tell us this, it is still gratifying to see our hard work, determination and Clemson spirit being acknowledged and ranked as one of the best. Thank you for making a commitment to keep Clemson at the top! It’s because of each of you that we are able to celebrate these accomplishments!

Go Tigers!

B-Note August 1, 2019

Greetings fellow Tigers!

Before we prepare to welcome our students back to campus for the fall semester, we will be honoring and celebrating our newest graduates next Friday, August 9 in Littlejohn Coliseum. Because of your gifts to Clemson, our students are leaving here equipped with the tools and knowledge that will make them successful in life. Your support makes it all possible!

Professor J.C. “Mike” Hubbard was without doubt a man who truly lived a life that overflowed with achievement, kindness and dedication. As a lifelong educator, his academic journey began at Clemson University as a student of Textile Weaving and Design in 1938. Upon graduating from Clemson in 1942, Mike selflessly served our country as a combat officer in WWII. His dedication and honorable service led to a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, four battle stars and an arrowhead. In 1947, the Hubbards returned to Clemson University, and Mike began his career in the College of Textiles. Professor Hubbard’s tenure with Clemson spanned more than 35 years, during which he achieved the esteemed position of Alumni Professor in 1982 and then Alumni Distinguished Professor Emeritus when he retired in 1984. Guiding thousands of students toward successful careers after graduation was one of Professor Hubbard’s gifts to the Clemson community and one he always hoped others would give to honor his legacy. Professor Hubbard recently passed away in March, but his generous spirit and dedication to Clemson lives on through the J.C. Hubbard Endowed Educational Fund that he and his family established through a charitable remainder annuity trust. You can read more about Professor Hubbard and the endowment here.

Mike and Margaret Hubbard established an endowment at Clemson University.

Athletics and art have united at Clemson with a new sculpture at the Allen N. Reeves Football Complex. Following the opening of the 140,000-square football complex in 2017, students with Atelier InSite, Clemson’s student-driven public art program, began the process of commissioning the piece. After two years, main campus’ newest public art is now complete. Designed by renowned artist Gordon Huether, “All In” is a 25-foot aluminum spheroid structure that encapsulates the building’s purpose and vision while complementing the facility’s existing spatial and aesthetic elements. You can read more here.

“All In” is for a 25’ tall sculpture with a 46' circumference, made of dichroic glass and aluminum.

B-Proud!
The Clemson family has great pride in our University’s military heritage. We continue to honor that in our traditions and within our Clemson culture. Because of Clemson’s dedication to its military roots, we are regularly recognized in our efforts to serve our active military and veterans. I am happy to share with you that Clemson University has been recognized as a Top Veteran-Friendly School by U.S. Veterans Magazine.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to Clemson!

Go Tigers!
