This week, Dr. Patrick Hiesl led a comprehensive chainsaw safety training course for our graduate students and faculty to emphasize the importance of safety and preparedness in the field.
The workshop was supported by Mr. Jeff Fellers from the Forestry and Wildlife Resources Extension team in Union County. His expertise and collaboration helped make the session a success. Over the course of six hours, participants learned safe handling techniques, reviewed the importance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and gained hands-on experience operating chainsaws of various sizes.
By the end of the day, everyone walked away with confidence and a deeper understanding of how to stay safe when using chainsaws, whether in research settings, fieldwork, or at home. We are grateful for the continued partnership with the FNR Extension team and their dedication to safety education.
