Clemson Human Factors and Ergonomics Society

USEV collaboration and Tiger Prowl

This summer, student members of Clemson’s HFES chapter collaborated with US Engine Valve (USEV). Together, we produced a thorough ergonomics assessment of their plant in Westminster, SC. Our CUHFES team members presented their findings to USEV yesterday, and it went great! We want to thank Clay Murphy and his team at USEV for the amazing opportunity they have provided us. We had a great time and we hope to continue working together soon!

On August 16, CUHFES officers Dan Quinn, Scott Betza, Will Leidheiser, and Drea Fekety represented our chapter at Clemson’s Tiger Prowl event. Tiger Prowl is an annual event for new students to learn about campus organizations, and it was an excellent opportunity for us to showcase CUHFES’s work and recruit new members. We’re looking forward to next year’s event!

Dr. Rick Tyrrell’s Professional Development Talk

Join us this Friday, February 26, 2016 at 2pm in Brackett 419 for Dr. Rick Tyrrell’s Professional Development Talk on Forensic Consulting.

Rick

Prof. Rick Tyrrell occasionally serves as an expert witness in the litigation of traffic crashes. In this week’s HFDG he will discuss his experiences in the world of forensic consulting. He will describe a few typical cases and then will discuss some of the many issues that become relevant when an academic who does research on safety gets involved in legal disputes that often involve injuries, fatalities, and millions of dollars. Because of the variety of topics that could be discussed, he hopes to tailor the discussion to the questions of the group. In other words, this will be a group discussion, not a presentation.
