Post-HFES 2016; Upcoming Happy Hour; Member Dues Deadline

Hi CUHFES members!

Last week we had a great time at the national HFES conference in Washington, D.C. Students, faculty, and alumni had a chance to catch up and hear about the latest in HF/E research. We also received our chapter’s gold award!File_000

Now that we’re back from D.C. we have some announcements to make.

Happy Hour: Friday 9/30, 4:00pm, at Study Hall

We will have a happy hour this Friday, September 30 at 4pm. We will meet in Study Hall Kitchen & Bar in downtown Clemson. We welcome current members, new members, and anyone considering joining Clemson HFES.

Pay HFES member dues before Friday 9/30 to get an HFES gift

We are still accepting dues for this year. In order to pay dues, you can go to the ‘Become a Member’ page on our website.

Please make sure to 1) complete the membership form AND 2) pay your dues. You must do BOTH of these steps in order to be a member! If you pay dues by this Friday, September 30, you can select one of the available gifts (HFES mug or drawbag).

NEW LOCATION for alumni, faculty, and student dinner at HFES 2016

Our chapter dinner for alumni, faculty, and students is next week at the HFES conference in Washington D.C., and we have made reservations with a different restaurant. Thank you to those who alerted us to the conflict with the Clemson vs. Georgia Tech football game.

When: Thursday, September 22nd @ 7pm

Where: Parlay Sports Bar and Lounge in Washington, D.C.

Come join us for food, drinks, and socializing while we watch the football game on a big projector and lots of TVs!

Parlay is about a 15 minute walk from the Washington Hilton (the HFES conference hotel). You may find more information about Parlay by visiting this Google Maps link and this Yelp link.

The CUHFES chapter will provide appetizers for those who RSVP’d with our previous evite. We hope to see you there!

Guest Talk about Human Factors at Furman University

Yesterday, Tuesday September 13th, HFES officers visited Dr. Gil Einstein‘s undergraduate psychology class at Furman University to deliver a guest lecture on Human Factors, its impact on our daily lives, and the research pursuits of our Clemson students and faculty.
