DeVol Wins Mentoring Award

Dr. Timothy DeVol was selected as the winner of the 2020 Mentoring Award, given to a faculty member in the College of Engineering, Computing, and Applied Sciences who goes above and beyond in enriching the faculty and student Clemson experience.  DeVol was recognized for his mentoring of Drs. Nicole Martinez, Lindsay Shuller-Nickles, and Brian Powell. These faculty constitute the core of the nuclear environmental engineering and science program within EEES. Dr. DeVol was instrumental in creating positions that led to the hiring of Shuller-Nickles and Martinez. Once the hires were made, Dr. DeVol was generous with his time to make sure that each was on a path to a successful academic career.  According to the letter of support from the mentees, “Tim’s strength as a mentor stems from his collaborative approach to science and engineering and his recognition of the value of a diverse team of individuals. He is able to listen without explicit bias to the challenges of others and provide feedback such that different individuals may find different solutions to similar problems.”

Congratulations Tim!
