Water Resources – Team Highlight

In 2020, Clemson Extension’s Carolina Clear program launched its newest mass media campaign focused on the proper management and disposal of fats, oil, and grease (FOG). The multi-part mass media campaign included a billboard series and television commercial. In the fall of 2020, there were twenty-two copies of the billboard installed in eleven Counties around the state. This is up by five billboards from the 2018 Carolina Clear effort; the billboard campaign was made possible through a partnership with the Outdoor Advertising Association of South Carolina.

The associated television commercial was one minute in length and depicted someone cooking in a residential setting in which the individual was met with conflicting advice from an angelic plumber and a grease goblin. In 2020, the commercial was aired on six local cable network television stations with a total of over 1.3 million impressions reported. For more information, viewers are directed to a newly overhauled Carolina Clear website (Carolina Clear).
