Katie Jurewicz began her journey as a Clemson Industrial Engineering (IE) student in 2011. She graduated with a BS in 2015 and then stayed to get an MS. This May, Katie is expected to graduate with her Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering with the dissertation: “Using a Bayesian Framework to Develop 3D Gestural Input Systems Based on Context, Expertise, and Exposure.”
Mary Grace Stachnik, a junior in the Industrial Engineering department at Clemson University, placed first in the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference technical paper competition. Stachnik’s paper, co-authored with senior IE student Marisa Shehan, titled, “Investigating Microbial Load in the Operating Room.”
Clemson IE, Ph.D. student, Amro Khasawneh, successfully defended his dissertation this fall, completing the hardest and most important step to receiving his doctorate. Amro began as a Ph.D. candidate in Fall 2016 shortly after earning his master’s degree from Binghamton University in Industrial and Systems Engineering.
Dr. Myrtede Alfred is a Ph.D. alumna working in the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. She returned to Clemson this semester as a speaker in the IE Graduate Seminar Series, giving a lecture on “Examining Systems Safety and Equity in Maternal Care.”
This semester, Clemson IE students were given a unique opportunity to attend a series of computer programming workshops sponsored by the student chapter of INFORMS.
