
Myrtede Alfred, a PhD student in the Department of Industrial Engineering, has earned the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) Dissertation Award. This award offers a $20,000 stipend, university-covered tuition and fees, and $500 in research allowance and professional development support. The award also includes funding for attending the annual SREB conference. SREB is a nonprofit organization active in 16 states to advance public education from pre-K through Ph.D. The SREB Doctoral Program supports doctoral students by providing financial assistance, research funding, career counseling, networking and recruiting opportunities, and early career support. The goal of the program is to increase the number of minority faculty on campuses throughout the country. Ms. Alfred is advised by Dr. Neyens and Dr. Gramopadhye.
