Clemson IE students awarded Daimler Scholars Program scholarships

Jake Flynn and Ashley Carroll

The Department of Industrial Engineering is proud to announce that two students from the department were selected to receive the 2015-16 Daimler Scholarship sponsored by the Daimler Scholars Program. Ashley Carroll from Seneca, SC and Jake Flynn from Mooresville, NC, both juniors, were selected based on their outstanding academic performance. It is the first time that a pair of students from the department has been awarded the scholarship in the same year. The annual scholarship award is presented to two juniors studying either mechanical or industrial engineering by a scholarship committee within the College of Engineering and Science.

Daimler, the scholarship sponsor, has an automotive assembly facility in Ladson, SC that assembles Sprinter vans for the US market under the Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner brands.  Clemson University and the College of Engineering and Science are thankful for Daimler’s support of engineering and research programs, as well as their commitment to manufacturing and economic development in South Carolina.

Carroll and Flynn each received a $7,500 scholarship for the 2015-16 academic year and will be eligible to have the scholarship renewed for a second year, based on criteria agreed upon by Daimler and Clemson.
