PhD student awarded scholarship by MHEFI

sreenath-chalil-madathilClemson University’s Department of Industrial Engineering is proud to announce that Sreenath Chalil Madathil, a PhD student from Kannur, India, has been awarded the Automated Storage/Retrieval Systems Honor Scholarship sponsored by the Material Handling Education Foundation, Inc. (MHEFI).

The scholarship award is for the 2015-2016 academic year and is intended to promote the study of material handling, logistics and the supply chain by exposing students and educators to the industry.   The scholarship aims to assist recipients to either prepare for a career in industry or in education and research, enabling recipients to inspire future generations of industry leaders.

Mr. Chalil Madathil earned his master’s degree in industrial engineering from Clemson University in 2013 and is a second year PhD student specializing in optimization for strategic planning and electricity grid optimization. In 2013 and 2014 he was recognized by the industrial engineering department with the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award.

Chalil Madathil joins several other recent Clemson industrial engineering students that have been recognized with prestigious scholarships from MHEFI. Ahmed Hassan (PhD, 2010) was awarded a scholarship by the Rack Manufacturers Institute (RMI) in 2009-2010, and Nadeepa Wickramage (a PhD candidate expected to graduate in 2015) was awarded the Steel King Honor Scholarship in 2013-2014.
