Drayton is a proud Clemson University alumnus from Bishopville, SC, who graduated in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in horticulture. Prior to accepting his new position at Clemson, Drayton spent more than 17 years with the City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Department. In that position, he managed the green spaces and parks in Greenville, SC.

In his new role, Drayton looks forward to taking on new challenges, learning more about the University’s research initiatives in chemistry and working with new people in the Clemson community. “I am extremely excited about working with the Department of Chemistry, which is one of the best in the nation,” Drayton said. “The research they are doing is absolutely amazing!”

Drayton is an avid college sports fan. When he is not cheering on the Tigers, he is cheering on his children at gymnastics events and soccer games across the state. Of all his accomplishments, Drayton is most proud of being a father, saying “I am a dad who puts faith and family first, and I try to instill that in my kids’ lives every day.”
