John Willis Kenelly, retiree – July 3, 2016

John Willis Kenelly Jr., 80, of Clemson, died July 3, 2016. Kenelly was an alumni professor and department head of mathematical sciences. He retired in 1994 with 30 years of service.

Kenelly was an important part of the development of the department. He also played an important role in the development of the advanced placement program in calculus, the College Board and the Mathematical Association of America. He was the president of the International Mathematical Olympiad 2001 USA and the 1994 Alumni of the Year for Southeastern Louisiana University.

Kenelly is survived by two sisters, son, daughter, family and friends.

A memorial service was held July 9, 2016 at Clemson Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.
