Follow Up Friday Increasing Instructor-Student Communication and Connection in the Online Classroom

Digital Learning Strategist Millie Tullis facilitated a workshop on Wednesday, September 24th: Increasing Instructor-Student Communication and Connection in the Online Classroom. The session focused on tips and strategies that increase communication and enhance the connection between instructors and students.

The session began with a discussion about the Community of Inquiry framework, an online learning framework that focuses on engagement and motivation to enhance the learning experiences of students in online classes. Then Tullis provided an overview of effective communication practices, including establishing an online etiquette standard for your course and outlining preferred methods for students to contact you. Following that, the session pivoted to some tips for making office hours more effective.
