Last Thursday, IT Services Specialist John Dickinson hosted a Quick Hit session titled Introduction to Academic Integrity Tools. This session covered Lockdown Browser, Respondus Monitor, and Turnitin for assessments.
Dickinson began the session with Turnitin, a tool that helps detect plagiarism and AI-generated content in student submissions. Then the session pivoted to Lockdown Browser, a separate program that students must download to limit computer function while taking a Canvas quiz. Within the Lockdown Browser segment of the session, Dickinson also covered Respondus Monitor, a proctoring tool that utilizes students’ microphones and webcams to record their attempts. While discussing each of these topics, Dickinson provided an overview of the noteworthy features and settings. He also provided a guide to setting these programs up for your assignments and quizzes.
If you are new to these tools, this session provides an introduction and overview to get you started. And if you are already familiar with the tools, but would like to see demonstrations, this Quick Hit may also be helpful for you. Click the link below to access the recording!
