Canvas Jumpstart Series 2026

Our Canvas Jumpstart Series is returning January 5th and 6th to help you prepare your spring Canvas courses!

This two-day training series will cover Canvas basics, course organization, and introduce you to useful tools available at Clemson. Led by our Digital Learning Strategists and Learning Technology Specialists, Canvas Jumpstart will help prepare your tech and your course for the spring semester!

January 5th – Canvas Jumpstart Series (Day 1)

Building an effective Canvas site is easier than you think! Day 1 will cover getting started and building Canvas, including:

  • Jan 5, 2026, 9 am: Getting Started with Canvas Navigation
  • Jan 5, 2026, 10 am: Importing Course Content and Creating a Welcoming Canvas Home Page
  • Jan 5, 2026, 11 am: The Rich Content Editor and Canvas Building Basics
  • Jan 5, 2026, 12 pm: Creating Modules and Building Course Content
  • Jan 5, 2026, 1 pm: Organizing Your Canvas Modules
  • Jan 5, 2026, 2 pm: Building Assignments and Using Rubrics in Canvas
  • Jan 5, 2026, 3 pm: Setting up the Canvas Gradebook and Navigating Speedgrader

January 6th – Canvas Jumpstart Series (Day 2)

Interested in creating quizzes, discussion boards, lecture videos, or using academic integrity tools? Day 2 has you covered:

  • Jan 6, 2026, 9 am: Building Quizzes and Discussion Boards
  • Jan 6, 2026, 10 am: Kaltura Video Basics
  • Jan 6, 2026, 11 am: Introduction to Academic Integrity Tools in Canvas

January 7th and 8th – Drop-in Support with Clemson Online

In addition to our Canvas Jumpstart Series, our Digital Learning Strategists and Learning Tech Specialists will be hosting virtual “drop-in hours” on January 7 from 10 am-12 pm and January 8th from 1-3 pm to answer your specific Canvas questions. You must be logged into Zoom with your Clemson email to join the “drop-in” session, but no registration is required. Click here to join via Zoom!

Creative Inquiry Course – Vibe Coding for Education

‘Dara Abimbade and Hansen Wetsel of Clemson Online are leading a new Creative Inquiry course this spring with the guiding question, “How can we use vibe coding to create educational tools that reflect the emotional and pedagogical values we want in the classroom?” It starts January 7, 2026. Quick Hits: Introduction to Simple Syllabus

Thursday, January 8th, 3-4 PM

Join this session to learn about utilizing Simple Syllabus! This training will demonstrate how to use the Simple Syllabus tool to build and publish an effective syllabus for your course. The training will also cover integrating Simple Syllabus with Canvas and the benefits of using this tool in your course. When registering, please include any questions you have about this training topic.

Explore Assistive Technology: Screen Readers, Keyboard Navigation, and More

Wednesday, January 14th, 1:30-2:30 pm

This workshop will explore several of the programs and features built into most devices that individuals with disabilities use to access the digital world. These technologies include color filters, magnification, keyboard navigation, screen readers, and more. Becoming familiar with these tools will improve your ability to identify accessibility barriers in your course and, in other ways, create a more welcoming environment for students with disabilities.
