Clemson Online: Where Tech and Teaching Meet

Vibe Coding for Education

‘Dara Abimbade and Hansen Wetsel of Clemson Online are leading a new Creative Inquiry course this spring with the guiding question, “How can we use vibe coding to create educational tools that reflect the emotional and pedagogical values we want in the classroom?” It starts January 7, 2026. Here are the details!

Design Emotionally Intelligent Learning Tools with AI (No Coding Required!)

Have an idea for a learning app but no coding experience? This project shows you how to bring your ideas to life using AI-powered “vibe coding.”

In Vibe Coding for Education, students design emotionally intelligent educational tools such as games, chatbots, journals, storytelling apps, or check-in tools using prompts and AI Agents. Instead of writing code, you focus on the vibe: the emotions and values you want learners to feel, such as joy, empathy, curiosity, safety, or resilience.

This project is ideal for students interested in teaching, learning, design, or technology, especially those who do not see themselves as “technical.” You will learn how educators can become co-creators of AI tools, rather than just users, ensuring that technology supports ethical, inclusive, and emotionally meaningful learning experiences.

What You Will Do

  • Learn the basics of vibe coding: a new, no-code way to build apps with AI
  • Design an educational tool based on emotional and pedagogical goals
  • Collaborate in teams to research, prompt, prototype, and test ideas
  • Explore ethical issues like bias, accessibility, and responsible AI use
  • Create a functional prototype or polished mockup to showcase your work

What You Will Gain

  • AI literacy and hands-on experience with emerging AI tools
  • Skills in emotional design, ethical reflection, and creative problem-solving
  • A portfolio-ready project you can share with schools, conferences, or employers
  • Confidence as a future educator or learning designer in an AI-shaped world

No coding experience required, just curiosity, creativity, and a desire to design learning experiences that truly care about how people feel.

Register for Vibe Coding for Edu with AI through iROAR, coded as Section 022 of INNO 2990, INNO 3990, or INNO 4990. If you have questions or would like further information, contact ‘dara Abimbade.
