Ever thought of trying out the Lightboard? Here are some ideas for how it might be used in Humanities instruction.
The Lightboard offers a wide range of opportunities for language instruction. It can be used for storytelling with simple illustrations and demonstrating various paradigms. Helping learners to visualize how to practice writing in a new language adds an additional layer to their learning process. Laura uses it to teach new vocabulary based upon morning beverage icons for her French students.
Everyone loves a diagram! Whether you are diagramming sentences, historical theories, or introducing a concept map, the lightboard allows you to connect with learners while interacting with the content. You can demonstrate not only the diagram itself but how to go about drawing it. Here Leslie shows how to write the letters of the Hebrew alphabet when students are used to reading a printed font.
The lightboard enables the instructor to interact with a map and show how boundaries changes over time or show movement across land. Using a geographical map of the region, Leslie discusses the various people groups that controlled the land just before and after the period of the Babylonian Exile.
Instructors interested in lightboard recordings work directly with a Clemson Online Digital Learning Strategist to plan and schedule recordings. The lightboard studio is located on the third floor of Sirrine Hall.
There is no cost for Lightboard Productions for Clemson University Instructors working with a Clemson Online DLS in a for-credit course. For those working on a non-credit or extension course, please see the pricing guide. Please contact Clemson Online to check availability and/or a quote.
