NIH Data Management Plans

NIH is implementing a new Data Management and Sharing Policy effective for ALL applications to NIH due on or after January 25, 2023. Data management plans (DMP) must be submitted with any application that generates scientific data. Plans must specify what methods or approaches/repositories will be used for data sharing, determine and budget for any costs related to data management and sharing, and describe how investigators will ensure compliance with the plan, if awarded.

SAVE THE DATE: NIH, in conjunction with the Council on Governmental Relations (COGR) will conduct an informational session on the new policy on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 3 p.m. Register here. You’ll need a COGR account to register. If you don’t already have an account, request one here with your clemson.edu email address. The request could take five days to process.

The Division of Research and CU Libraries are also hosting a zoom presentation about the requirements on January 18th at 3pm. You can register for this presentation (which will be recorded and made available) through our RCR events or Clemson Events Calendar. If you attend the live session, you are eligible for 1 RCR credit.

New reference infographic for adding minors to your research team

If you plan to add minors (e.g. summer high school students) to your projects, there is a process for registering your lab and ensuring there is a safe environment for the students.

We are publishing a infographic that briefly describes the process with links (or QR codes if you chose to print). Click to access the infographic, or visit any of our program pages and look in the references.

New MSP Enrollment Process in Effect

As of January 9, 2023, enrollment in the MSP program for vertebrate animal use has moved from a faxed document to SciShield (formerly BioRAFT). If you have a lab registered in SciShield, you will receive a notice to enroll appropriate personnel in the MSP program—this is one time just to get everyone into the system. Personnel who are added to your lab will be prompted to enroll in the MSP program via SciShield. MSP enrollment verification will be done via SciSield as of January 9.
