Recently, Idealliance held their first Sonoco Institute-hosted G7 Training and Certification course for color management professionals at Clemson University. Among the 17 professionals certified were three Clemson graduate students – Himanshu Rana, Emily Kalshoven and Cat Bromels – as well as the Sonoco Institute’s Advanced Print Lab Coordinator, Kariahlyn Lindsey.
“It was interesting to see another approach to press-side measurement by focusing solely on CMY grays, which helped stabilize the press runs over the week,” commented Lindsey. “Moving forward, I would like to implement the G7 methodology into our standard practice for process color trials, utilizing ColorCert for press-side measurement.”
Instructors at the Sonoco Institute also intend to apply this knowledge when dealing with client print trials and industry seminars, to help with color management and press calibration over various substrates.
