Jackie Ta (she/her)
Jackie Ta is a multi-disciplined artist from Vietnam. She earned her BFA in Painting and Graphic Design from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh with honors in 2019. Ta graduated with an MFA in Painting at Clemson University in 2022. She has been exhibiting in over thirty exhibitions and getting multiple awards in art shows throughout the United States, especially in Upstate-Northern New York and South Carolina. Within two years at Clemson, Ta received four Graduate Travel Grants, two Art Research Scholarships, and one fellowship and John Acorn Award in Fine Arts Studio. These opportunities allowed her to travel across the country to Arizona and across the ocean to Vietnam to collect visual and cultural research. Currently, Ta is returning to her hometown in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and she continues to be a full-time painter.
This painting featured on the cover is called “That Red One Is A Noodle House,” included in her new body of work, “Aiii Sài Gòn Hông?” (Translates: “Saigon, anyone?”), which invites the audience to take a glimpse into the vivid everyday life in contemporary Vietnam through a perspective of a Saigon local.
