The Anderson Arts Center in downtown Anderson, SC will present a retrospective of two South Carolina artists, Tom Dimond and Terry Jarrard-Dimond, titled 50/50 Gold ’68 – ’18 The exhibition opened on September 7 and will continue through October 25, 2018. The public is invited to view this exhibit which will feature over 150 art works from the five decades the two artists have been together. It will be a rare opportunity to discover the creative development and progression of visual ideas from two closely related individuals over the span of five decades.

Tom Dimond, Professor Emeritus of Visual Arts, retired from Clemson University in 2006. He has exhibited his work extensively in the southeast and nationally in over 200 competitive, invitational group and solo shows and has many awards to his credit. Among the many awards are Purchase Awards from the Southeast Center for Contemporary Art in Winston-Salem, NC. , Asheville Art Museum, Gibbes Art Gallery of Charleston, SC, Greenville County Museum of Art, Anderson Art Center of Anderson, SC, Pickens County Museum of Art.  He received an Individual Artist Grant from the South Carolina Arts Commission in 1975 that allowed him to produce a series of large shaped paintings that were exhibited throughout the southeast. He has attended Art Residencies  at the Hambidge Center in Rabun Gap, Georgia in 1989 and at the Vermont Studio Center in 1990.

He was honored to be represented in Southern Abstraction: Five Painters that toured several museums in the southeast and his work was featured in Collage At the End of the Twentieth Century at the ARTernatives Gallery in San Luis Opisbo, CA. This past year he has had exhibits at Lander University, USC Aiken, the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville, SC. and the Upstairs Artspace in Tryon, NC.

He is represented in both public and private collections including Equitable Life Insurance in New York City, Federal Reserve Bank in Charlotte, NC, Health Resources in Birmingham, Alabama, Asheville Art Museum, Greenville County Museum of Art, Furman University, Greenville Technical College, Tri-County Technical College, the Fine Arts Center of Greenville County and the South Carolina State Art Collection.

Terry Jarrard-Dimond has explored several media including weaving, metal, fiber and wood assemblages, fiber constructions and most recently encaustic and acrylic paintings. Her emphasis has been on the interaction of materials within the framework of experiential ideas. Her work has been included in numerous major competitive, invitational and solo exhibitions including FiberArts International in Pittsburgh, PA and Independent Spirits at the Columbia Museum of Art in Columbia, SC. Most recently the Florence County Museum presented her work: EVIDENCE: The Art of Terry Jarrard-Dimond 1987-2017  in a solo exhibition as part of the 50th anniversary celebration for the South Carolina Arts Commission.

Jarrard-Dimond’s work toured Europe for two years as part of Color Improvisations.  Her textile work is included in Wall Art, a book published by Schiffer Publishing. Her sculpture and textile work are in collections including Coca-Cola International Corporate Headquarters, Atlanta, GA, The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Charlotte, NC, Tri-County Technical College, Pendleton, SC, State Art Collection, South Carolina State Museum and   Mark P. Coplan Collection, South Carolina State Museum, Columbia, SC. The Wieland Collection, John Wieland Homes Inc., GA,  The Ethyl Corporation, Florence, SC, The Fine Arts Center, Greenville, SC and Herring Center for Continuing Education, Furman University, Greenville, SC.
