Pinckney Leadership Program Highlight

“Youth today are leaders of tomorrow.”

At the close of this 4-H year, the Pinckney Leadership Program issued nine recurring scholarships to 4-H Pinckney Leadership graduates who are currently pursuing degrees in higher education. To keep the scholarship students must maintain leadership involvement and maintain at least a 2.5 GPA. Those recipients are Morgan McManus (Clemson University), Ka’Nya McCree (College of Charleston), Quentin Murrell (Savannah College of Art & Design), Jordan Snipes (Winthrop University), Landon Bradshaw (Wake Forest University), Jaimeen Shah (University of South Carolina), Jasmine Alexander-Coleman (University of South Carolina), T’Asia Smalls (North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University), and Gerell Lawhorne (College of Charleston).

By participating in the South Carolina 4-H Pinckney Leadership program it is our hope that youth become actively engaged in their local communities by utilizing the leadership and citizenship skills developed and pursuing leadership positions. We’re excited to announce that several 4-H Pinckney Leaders have been elected to leadership positions in their local high schools, school clubs, and 4-H clubs. “I am excited to see our youth leaders not only find their leadership “voice” through our program, but I’m equally excited to see that they’re taking what they have learned and applying it in their communities. This is the true spirit of who Senator Pinckney was.” Rushawnda Olden, Director
