Upcoming Changes to People.Clemson.Edu Web Spaces

CCIT has begun the second phase of upgrading the architecture for the web-accessible people.clemson.edu servers because the current system has reached end-of-life; the first phase was completed in February 2023. If you are an owner of one of these sites, you should receive an email from CCIT regarding this upgrade. Beginning July 7, please review your website using the instructions found in the HDKB article linked below and make any necessary changes prior to the planned go-live date of September 30, 2023.

Instructions to Access Personal Websites at Clemson for OL8/PHP 8.2 Upgrade

After July 7, any future changes made to your personal people.clemson.edu web space must be made on both the live production website and the testing development website. On September 30, the content on your development site will replace your current website. Follow the instructions found in the HDKB article linked above to test your website and make any future changes.

Link format for current live production site: http://username.people.clemson.edu
Link format for development site for testing: http://username.people82.clemson.edu
Note: Replace “username” with your Clemson username in the links listed above to access your personal web space.

Part of this phase includes updating to a newer version of PHP (version 5.4 to 8.2). This large jump in PHP versions is likely to have an impact on any applications on your website built with PHP. We need all administrators to verify that their websites are not affected. Specific versions and details can be found in the HDKB article linked above.

If you are an owner of a people.clemson.edu web space, CCIT will contact you with further updates on the upgrade and how to edit your pages. Please email ithelp@clemson.edu if you have questions, need assistance, or would like for CCIT to decommission a website.
