2021 SRNS Summer Internship Program

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) is now accepting applications for its 2021 summer internship program.

The 2021 SRNS summer internship program will offer college students an opportunity to complete hands-on work, while narrowing the gap between the classroom setting and professional world. Each summer, SRNS hires a diverse group of students pursuing degrees in programs like engineering, business, information technology, emergency management, accounting and statistics. All majors and disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Internship applications are now open and will close on Feb. 12, 2021. Additional positions may be added each week. Applicant resumes will be reviewed by the selection review panel, and selected applicants will be contacted by April 5, 2021. The internships will begin in mid-May and will conclude in early August.

To qualify for a summer internship with SRNS, the student must be a U.S. citizen, enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited two-year or four-year university and have a current GPA of 2.5 or higher. Applicants are encouraged to upload resumes as early as possible. Unofficial transcripts must be uploaded prior to the job closing in order to be eligible for consideration.

To learn more, go to www.savannahrivernuclearsolutions.com, click on the “Careers” tab at the top of the page, then choose “Opportunities for Students” job link.

For more information, contact James “Rainer” Neely, SRNS Intern Program Coordinator, james.neely@srs.gov, or (803) 761-2694.

Undergraduate Summer Research Program in Digital Ag

Purdue University will be again hosting an undergraduate summer research program in digital agriculture in 2021 supported by a USDA REEU grant. We are optimistic that we will be able to have an in-person experience, but will fall back to virtual again, if necessary. This will be the third year of this program.

Information about the summer internship, how to apply, etc. can be found at the URL below:

https://ag.purdue.edu/digital-ag-resources/undergraduate-summer-research-program-in-digital-ag/

Applications are due midnight Monday, Feb 8, 2021

Students will learn to:

  • understand application program interfaces (APIs) well enough to collect data and wrangle data into informed decisions
  • perform proper statistical analysis and be able to communicate process and results
  • understand the industry opportunities in agri-business data science

The project will address a variety of the AFRI farm bill priority areas with focus on Cyberinformatics and Tools for Food and Agricultural Data Analysis and Data-Driven Applications (FACT). With the intellectual focus on digital agriculture and data analytics, we will introduce algorithmic thinking in basic elements, and will empower those students to integrate different concepts into their own research area and to communicate that effectively.

The Purdue Office for Undergraduate Research (OUR) will facilitate housing for interns, social activities, and tours of agricultural research centers.
