UNLEASH Hack focusing on sanitation in Alabama’s Black Belt

Please see the opportunity below if you are interested in joining the Hack on Sanitation in Alabama’s Black Belt.

My name is Chris Olivares and I am on the organizing team of the UNLEASH Hack focusing on sanitation in Alabama’s Black Belt in coordination with the Water Environment Federation (WEF). The 2-day Hack will be hosted on June 5 and 12, 2021.

An estimated 90% of the on-site sewage systems in Lowndes County in Alabama’s Black Belt are failing or non-existent, resulting in pooling of raw sewage in yards, hookworm infections, and other negative health impacts. We would like to invite you to participate in developing scalable solutions to this complex problem.

UNLEASH is a Global Innovation Lab committed to bringing the world’s top talents together to share ideas, build networks and create solutions to help reach the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 2-day innovation process leverages UNLEASH’s proven methodology and global community of over 3,000 Alumni to generate and grow impactful and solutions where they are most needed.

We are looking for Hack participants who:

1.    Demonstrate passion and commitment to solving the pressing SDG challenge, and a creative and innovative mindset.

2.    Willing to engage in co-creation with peers and experts.

3.    Are 20 – 35 years old.

4.    Available to participate June 5 and June 12, 2021.

Participants (also called “talents” within the UNLEASH community)  must complete the application that closes this Sunday May 23, 2021.

Please join us in this year’s Hack, and become part of the UNLEASH family!

Best,

Chris Olivares
