The South Carolina Mitigation Association (SCMA) 2025 scholarship program is accepting applications until June 30, 2025. A minimum of two awards ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 will be awarded to eligible individuals currently engaged in education related to ecological restoration or mitigation. Eligible individuals include undergraduate students, preferably juniors and seniors, and graduate students at a college or university in South Carolina pursuing studies or conducting research related to ecosystem restoration or mitigation. Eligible students must be enrolled in an institution or higher learning in the fall of 2025. Scholarship awards will be sent directly to the college or university.

This REU program is designed for undergraduate students interested in acquiring research experiences within one or more of the following fields – note that students do not have to have any prior experience within these fields to be eligible for our research program:

Oceanography and Climate
Paleoclimate
Space and Planetary Science

Selected participants will receive a $7,000 stipend along with housing on campus throughout the duration of the 10-week program.
Oregon State University is hosting summer internships for undergraduate students interested in hands-on and interdisciplinary research on how the field of engineering can contribute to building resilient communities. The Engineering for Bouncing Back Better (EB3) program will award 10 fellowships of $7,000 per student + travel and subsistence support. During the 10-weekprogram, students will work with faculty mentors and graduate students on a specific project and develop research skills to increase graduate school opportunities.

Undergraduate students who are interested in doing research about environmental systems or sustainability can apply to do the Research Experience for Undergraduates program with the University of Arkansas. The EcoREU focuses on field- and
lab-based research in areas such as water quality, sustainability, biofuels, agroecosystems, and more. Projects are supervised by university professors and vary from year-to-year based on the most current work conducted at the University of Arkansas and partnering universities. During the 10-week program, students will get a crash course about ecosystem services, conduct research with help and guidance from their advisor, and learn how to analyze their data and share their results with peers and other researchers.

Applications are now being accepted for the Summer REU Program in Marine Science at the University of Delaware, an NSF-Funded Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program.
The program will take place from June 2 to August 8, 2025, at the University of Delaware’s Hugh R. Sharp campus in the beach community of Lewes, located on the shores of the Delaware Bay and Atlantic Ocean. Interns will work with faculty in a research-intensive setting on a research topic in chemical, physical, or biological oceanography, marine biology, marine geology, biogeochemistry, or a related area. In addition to hands-on research experience, student support includes a $7,200 stipend, campus housing, and travel assistance. The deadline to apply is February 14, 2025
