The AWWA Scholarship program applications are OPEN! I am excited to share with you some new scholarships that will be offered this year:

 TGO Technologies ChlorTainer

ChlorTainer offers a $10,000 scholarship to undergraduate and graduate engineering students located in New York, New Mexico, Arizona, Kansas, Michigan, California or Texas pursuing a career in the water industry.

Gannett Fleming

Gannett Fleming is offering a $5000 academic scholarship to undergraduate or graduate students in the fields of engineering, project management or information technology.

Raftelis Charitable Fund

Offering a $5000 scholarship funding to students pursuing a finance, organization, technology or marketing degree to serve the North American water industry.

 HDR has increased its One Water Institute Scholarship to $10,000

HDR’s One Water Institute drives water innovations through applied research. This $10,000 funding assists a graduate student work toward a degree and  conduct research in the water science field.

WRT will be offering three $5,000 scholarships in 2020

Water Remediation Technology (WRT) provides effective processes for removing radium, uranium and other contaminants from water. Its goal is to fund education for water and wastewater operators across the country.

WEASC Capital District Scholarship

The Water Environment Association of South Carolina (WEASC) is the premiere organization dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the water environment in the
state. The WEASC Capital District Scholarship Program is an integral part of the WEASC mission to provide, support, and encourage environmental education. This District Scholarship
Program will be administered directly by the Capital District and will provide financial assistance to an active Capital District member or an immediate family member of an active
Capital District member who is pursuing a degree with an environmental emphasis at an institution of higher learning.

The Capital District will be awarding up to three (3) $2,500 scholarships. The recipients will be invited to the Mid Year Meeting in Columbia early September to be recognized and receive a certificate. The process does usually require the student to become a member but the WEASC Students Membership is free. The application package can be found on www.scwaters.org/group/capital. All applications must be received by June 1, 2019.

E2F Funding Program for Master of Science Students In Environmental Engineering

PURPOSE
To provide a funding program that will encourage qualified students, who have a broad interest in various environmental engineering fields (e.g. municipal water, wastewater, solid waste, air quality, water resources, hazardous waste, sustainable engineering and energy recovery), to enroll in environmental engineering Masters of Science programs and immediately practice environmental engineering within the United States after graduation with their Masters degree.

What is ARPA E?

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) is devoted exclusively to support research and development of high-potential, high-impact energy technologies that are too early for private-sector investment.

 Why should I apply?

Being selected as a DOE Scholar at ARPA-E offers the following benefits:

  • Stipends starting at $600 per week for undergraduates and $650 per week for graduate students and post graduates during the internship period

Waste Disposal Authority 2019 Student Summer Intern (LSE), Aiken, South Carolina

Job Summary

Provide support to Savannah River Remediation (SRR) as a Student Summer Intern Limited Service Employee (LSE) on the Savannah River Site (SRS), a US Department of Energy(DOE) facility in western South Carolina.

The intern will perform meaningful work in support of the organization. Guidance will be provided using SRR processes and procedures. Interns will prepare and present a final project to the SRR management team summarizing conclusions about the experience, impacts delivered and relevance for their future career.

The Intern will assist with final activities to prepare for issuance of the Saltstone Disposal Facility Performance Assessment revision to DOE-HQ. Intern will assist with final document reviews, finalization of support documentation, incorporation of DOE-SR comments and other tasks as needed. Intern should possess knowledge of various Microsoft software programs including Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

  • MS Funding Program  $10,000 is available for undergrads that will pursue a master’s in Environmental Eng. in 2019-2020 at one of the 68 participating universities.  The program has given over $1.2 million to master’s students since 2005, and E2F employers have hired approximately 55 of the funded grad. students for full-time positions.

The Nuclear Engineering Science Laboratory Synthesis (NESLS) Program at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) provides nuclear engineering research opportunities and associated activities for current undergraduate and graduate students.
