Synopsis ESMEI offers paid summer undergraduate research internships at Colorado State University in the Department of Atmospheric Science. Interns participate in a 10 week program from late May through early August.

Harper Spring Co-ops

Co-Op (Assistant Project Engineer)

To assist (and learn from) project management and/or estimating teams with daily tasks to build/estimate projects.   Co-Op assignments normally involve three (3) work rotations alternating with school semester attendance.  Typical Duties Include, but are not limited to:  Learn the Construction Specifications Institute Master Format, divisions and sections, and how it relates to the Construction Industry.  Learn to read and interpret project specifications, contract requirements, and bid preparations. Perform subcontractor soliciting. Perform quantity take-offs. Receive and evaluate supplier and subcontractor proposals. Participate in bid reviews. Assist in preparing bid packages. Maintain project files, current drawings, as-built records, and production records. Read and interpret plans and specifications. Estimate material needs for purchasing. Write purchase orders. Assist with the invoice approval process. Learn aspects of jobsite safety. Assist with value engineering. Prepare scopes of work for subcontractors and major vendors. Understand budgets and cost tracking. Negotiate prices and services. Assist with the management of subcontractors. Review and prepare submittal documents and O&M manuals.

  • Summer 2019 Student Engineer Positions with E2F employers (No Experience Required)  Civil/Environmental Eng. students can fill out a short application that is forwarded to E2F employers.  The employers may contact students regarding specific job openings that will fit their qualifications in 2019.  
 
  • MS Funding Program  $10,000 is available for undergrads that will pursue a master’s in Environmental Eng. in 2019-2020 at one of the 68 participating universities.  The program has given over $1.2 million to master’s students since 2005, and E2F employers have hired approximately 55 of the funded grad. students for full-time positions.

Companies are looking for talented candidates representing a wide range of majors. Upon successful completion of the program and other requirements, interns will be eligible to receive a cash scholarship.

 

Applicants are considered for multiple positions with our Corporate Partners, companies focused on various aspects of waste management including: sustainable management of waste materials, recycling, waste equipment design and manufacturing and engineering. Qualified candidates receiving summer employment who complete the entire program and other requirements (e.g. online courses) will be eligible for a cash scholarship.

DOE Scholars Program

 

The DOE Scholars Program introduces students and recent college graduates to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) mission and operations.

 

Why should I apply?

Being selected as a DOE Scholar offers the following benefits:

  • Stipends starting at $600 per week for undergraduates and $650 per week for graduate students and post graduates during the internship period
  • Limited travel reimbursement to/from assigned location
  • Direct exposure to and participation in projects and activities in DOE mission-relevant research areas

Eligibility

  • Be a U.S. citizenship
  • Be an undergraduate, graduate student, or recent graduate of an accredited institution of higher education majoring in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and related areas.
  • Must be pursuing a degree or have received a degree within 5 years of their starting date in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) discipline or have demonstrated interest or experience in a STEM field that supports the DOE mission.

 

Veterans are encouraged to apply.  DOE Scholars selected by the Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) are given a Veteran’s Preference. Selected veterans will be placed at various federal agencies in Washington, D.C. Veteran candidates who have received a college degree in an appropriate science, technology, engineering or math discipline within ten years of their starting date are eligible for appointments.

Internship Opportunity with Greenville Water

Greenville Water is interested in setting up paid internships for 1 or 2 engineering students. Seniors preferred, so that a successful internship could potentially lead to a job with Greenville Water following the completion of the internship. Greenville Water has competitive pay and excellent benefits, so this would be a great opportunity for the right student(s). While the job description states that civil engineering students are sought, the position is open to engineering students from any discipline.
