(BEES 101) Honey Bees, Beekeeping and “The Citizen Beekeeper”
The program will address content related to the Western Honey Bee (Apis mellifera) and general beekeeping methods and practices currently utilized. The program will focus on the following topics:

David Detrich came to Clemson University in 1992 where he headed the Sculpture Program in the Department of Art and acted as the Graduate Program Coordinator until his retirement in 2022. Leading up to his retirement, he and his wife founded Woodlawn Apiary, LLC in Walhalla, SC. He is a South Carolina Beekeepers Association Certified Beekeeper and is affiliated with the SC Specialty Crop Growers Association in Columbia, SC. Honey produced at Woodlawn Apiary, LLC has received recognition locally and statewide for its outstanding quality and taste.
