#OTD – Thomas G. Clemson. IV. died on April 6, 1888. The date is sometimes called Founder’s Day. With Clemson’s Last Will & Testament initiated the process to create a “High Seminary of Learning,” on the Fort Hill estate. Likewise, it established that Fort Hill shall be “open for the inspection of visitors.”

When will the Fort Hill mansion and grounds be open to the public? We would like to visit.
Hi, Blythe! Fort Hill: National Historic Landmark is open for self-guided tours from Monday through Saturday: 10:00am-12:00pm & 1:00pm-4:30pm and Sunday: 2:00pm-4:30pm. Fort Hill is closed on home football game days and for holidays.
