Clemson Online proudly announces that English (ENGL) 2130: British Literature, taught by lecturer Chelsea McKelvey, has been certified by Quality Matters (QM) and the online course review process. To achieve certification, online and hybrid courses are evaluated in eight areas using the Quality Matters Rubric from learning outcomes to accessibility, and instructors work with a team of certified reviewers at Clemson Online to find improvements and tools to enhance their courses and solve instructional problems. ENGL 2130 will be listed in the Quality Matters directory of certified courses.
McKelvey’s successful course certification is the result of her commitment to quality teaching and the supportive relationship between instructor and reviewers. ENGL 2130 was reviewed by Digital Learning Strategist James Butler, M.A., and Digital Learning Manager Sharyn Emery, Ph.D. “Everyone I worked with to prepare and revise my course for QM certification was helpful and insightful while respecting my knowledge of my field,” McKelvey said.
“Clemson Online made it easy for me to see how I could improve my course for QM certification. The process improved my teaching, particularly in making my Canvas more accessible and user-friendly for students. These improvements have also impacted how I organize and approach my in-person classes.”
Clemson Online is proud to add Chelsea’s course to the University’s other recent QM accomplishments, including:
Quality Matters is the global leader in effective online course design. Its review process is a research-based, comprehensive and collaborative process that helps produce well-designed, rigorous online courses in keeping with Clemson’s mission as a high seminary of learning.
QM reviews are now eligible for submission as evidence of teaching effectiveness in the Faculty Success Annual Reporting system, thanks to the support of the Office of Academic Affairs and the Provost. Instructors should consult their individual departments and program to determine how QM reviews will be recognized.
